Livenarch+ Journal

• The purpose of LivenARCH+ Journal is to provide an academic environment for reproducing and sharing thoughts, knowledge, practices, achievements and experiences among all the actions and actors of international and national platforms where the discipline of architecture is in contact with the subject of “LIVable ENvironments and ARCHitecture”.

• LivenARCH+ Journal aims to open various approaches from all scales and different cultures to academic circulation in a common field of literature, to produce new architectural information aimed at the vision of the future of architecture. In the light of this aim, it is expected that the actions of the profession and the information produced by its actors will be related to the main theme of “LIVable ENvironments and ARCHitecture” and its potential sub-themes.

• The sub-themes that create and develop architecture in all its dimensions have been identified as; “philosophy/history/theory/discourse”, “criticism/method”, “nature/environment”, “human/behavior/public health”, “politics/policies/laws/regulations/ethics”, “economy”, “identity/culture/tradition”, “urban/city/landscape/rural”, “technology/material/sustainability”, “conservation/transformation/re-use”, “design/interior design”, “arts/aesthetics” and “education” and have been opened to the researchers’ scientific sharing.

• In this context, LivenARCH+ Journal publishes articles in “Architecture”, “Cultural Studies”, “Environmental Studies”, “Urban Studies”, “Regional Urban Planning”, “Art”, “Ecology”, “Construction Building Technology”, “Civil Engineering”, “Green Sustainability Science Technology” within the WoS categories in accordance with its purpose and content.

• LivenARCH+ Journal, which is published twice a year in January, July and an additional Special Issue, includes theoretical and applied studies on current issues within the scope of design disciplines and research, discussion and opinion articles prepared on the basis of sciences related to the field of design. In this context, it is expected that the articles to be included in the scope of LivenARCH+ Journal will be original and scientific research studies, whose contribution to the relevant literature has been proven by qualitative, quantitative, experimental and analytical methods.

• LivenARCH+ Journal is an academic, independent, international, double-blind peer-reviewed, open access and online electronic journal which its articles should disclose original data that has not been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere. 

• The articles deemed to be in accordance with the submission rules and the scope of LivenARCH+ Journal are sent to at least two referees who are experts in their field for scientific evaluation. LivenARCH+ Journal Editorial Board members who discuss the appropriateness take into account the reviewers’ comments on each submission. The final decision for all submitted articles belongs to the Editor In-Chief.

• LivenARCH+ Journal does not accept late article applications, but puts the late articles in the process to be evaluated in the next issue.

Language: The publication language for LivenARCH+ Journal is English.
Article Types: The publication types for LivenARCH+ Journal are research/review/theoretical articles and discussion/opinion articles.

Visual Format: Each of the visual material must be in jpeg format with a resolution of at least 300 dpi (images with a poor image quality will not be used).
Citation Style: All sources used in the article should be listed alphabetically and hanging at the end of the text under the heading of “References”. LivenARCH+ Journal adopts the APA (6.0) reference format. The citation format of the submitted works should comply with the APA (6.0) style. Author Change: It is processed only before the article is accepted. Author(s) need to carefully review the list and order of author(s) before submitting their article and provide the definitive list of author(s) at the time of the original submission.
Submission of the Article: Articles must be submitted through the DergiPark platform.

All processes and correspondence related to the articles should be conducted through the DergiPark system.
Along with the articles, author(s) must upload the “LivenARCH+ Journal ARTICLE INFORMATION FORM” and “LivenARCH+ Journal COPYRIGHT NOTICE FORM” (For Author(s) Forms please see: https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/livenarch/page/16324), and the "SIMILARITY REPORT" obtained from iThenticate/Turnitin programs.

General Rules of the Article: Author(s) should use their names in the user accounts they open to submit articles. The articles should include an abstract, preceding the title of the article. Abstracts should be in the range of 150-250 words. In the articles, the sequence; “Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Main Text, Method, Findings, Discussion, Results and References” should be followed.
The total word count for the articles should be between 5000-9000 words (excluding references).
Any images, drawings, or content used in the articles should be labelled in the format; Table/Figure 1. Name or Description of the Table/Figure. All references to books, newspapers, journals, TV programs, films, etc., in the text should be italicized. Final Checklist of the Article:
• Articles must be uploaded through DergiPark System.
• The uploaded article text must be in .doc format, and in accordance with the double-blind peer review policy, the author(s)’ name should not be present in the full texts of the articles.
• Make sure that your articles use the APA (6.0) reference system, comply with the journal's publication policies, manifesto, purpose, scope, and adhere to the recommendations specified in the writing rules.

LivenARCH+ JOURNAL ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
• All manuscripts that do not comply with the “LivenARCH+ Journal ETHICAL PRINCIPLES and PUBLICATION POLICY” will not be considered for the peer review process.
• All manuscripts submitted to LivenARCH+ Journal for publication are evaluated by national and/or international referees. The final decision about the manuscript is made by the editor(s).
• The publication types of research/review/theoretical articles submitted to LivenARCH+ Journal for publication are evaluated by national and/or international referees. The final decision about the manuscript is made by the editor(s).
• The publication types of discussion/opinion articles submitted to LivenARCH+ Journal for publication are evaluated by national and/or international referees and/or scientific advisory board and/or editorial board members as referees. The final decision about the manuscript is made by the editor(s).
• The double-blind peer review system is applied in LivenARCH+ Journal.
• The article publication process of LivenARCH+ Journal is completed within sixteen (16) weeks.
• In the same issue and/or year of LivenARCH+ Journal, more than one article with the same author's name as the sole and/or corresponding author, and with the same/other multiple authors cannot be published.
• For the LivenARCH+ Journal Special Issue; only the papers selected by the LivenARCH Congress Organizing Committee and accepted from the referee(s) evaluation processes are published in the following congress year.
• Authors of manuscripts submitted to LivenARCH+ Journal send the similarity report to the journal simultaneously with the manuscript. In the iThenticate/Turnitin programs where the similarity check will be performed, a similarity rate (excluding sources) of up to 15% is accepted.
• For manuscripts submitted to LivenARCH+ Journal requiring Ethics Committee Approval/Legal Permission/Special Permission, the author(s) submit the official document related to the permission containing the necessary explanations to the journal simultaneously with the manuscript.
• There is no submission, editing, evaluation, and publishing fee in LivenARCH+ Journal.

LivenARCH+ Journal Editor(s) Ethical Responsibilities
• Editor(s) are responsible for ensuring that every article published in LivenARCH+ Journal is published in accordance with the “LivenARCH+ Journal ETHICAL PRINCIPLES and PUBLICATION POLICY” and international standards.
• Editor(s) are obligated to implement the policies outlined in the “LivenARCH+ Journal ETHICAL PRINCIPLES and PUBLICATION POLICY”, specifically the “REFEREE PROCESS PRINCIPLES” and “REVIEWER and EDITOR GUIDELINES”; they ensure that each article is fairly, impartially, and timely reviewed, regardless of the author's ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, religious beliefs, or political philosophy.
• During the submission stage to LivenARCH+ Journal, authors are required to declare any conflicts of interest. If no such declaration is provided, a note stating that no conflict of interest has been declared is added to the article during the publcation stage.
• Editor(s) of LivenARCH+ Journal have the right to reject an article in the event of the detection of any conflict of interest.
• Editor(s) review articles submitted to LivenARCH+ Journal for compliance with the aims/scope and writing rules principles and ensure their entry into the peer review process.
• Editor(s) have full authority in the assignment of referees, and the final decision regarding articles to be published in LivenARCH+ Journal lies with the editors. Editors consult the Scientific Advisory Board when necessary for the final decision.
• Articles sent to referees by editor(s) are expected to be evaluated which the evaluations made on the articles are marked by the referees, within twenty (20) days. Referees inform the editor(s) if they cannot evaluate the assigned articles within the designated time. If the period is exceeded, editor(s) extend the time or make a new referee assignment, retracting the request from the previous referee.
• All changes requested by the editorial team or referees must be made by the authors which the evaluations made on the articles are marked by the author(s), within twenty (20) days. The decision about the process of the manuscript is made by the editor(s).
• Corrected articles are re-evaluated by referees requesting changes or corrections, if necessary.
• LivenARCH+ Journal Editor In-Chief decides on the publication of articles where corrections and suggestions requested by referees are made, in line with the opinions of the referees.

LivenARCH+ Journal Referee(s) Ethical Responsibilities
• All manuscripts received by LivenARCH+ Journal referees are evaluated anonymously. The double-blind peer review principle, where referees do not know the authors and where authors do not know the referees is applied during the evaluation process, and each manuscript is sent to minimum two (2) referees. For a manuscript to be published in the journal, two (2) positive reports from referees are required. In cases where referee reports differ, the opinion of a third referee is sought, and the evaluation is completed.
• Direct communication between referees and authors is not allowed within the scope of LivenARCH+ Journal. Article evaluations and notes are transmitted to the authors by the editor(s), preserving the information about the referees.
• Referees keep their evaluations confidential due to the nature of the documents sent to LivenARCH+ Journal.
• Referees evaluate only the articles related to their areas of expertise. In case of a different subject, they inform the editor(s) and withdraw from the process.
• Referees report any conflicts of interest to the editor and withdraw from the process in case of issues related to conflicts of interest.
• Referees complete the “LivenARCH+ Journal REFEREE EVALUATION FORM” for each article they evaluate, indicating their positive/negative decisions and reasons on the form.
• The period given to the referees to evaluate the articles is twenty (20) days from the date on which the referees accepted the evaluation after they were assigned by the editor(s).
• Referees inform the editor(s) if they cannot evaluate the assigned articles within the designated time.
• Referees notify the editor(s) in case of any plagiarism and/or copyright infringement.
• The language used in referees' reports should adhere to the rules of grammar, be academically articulate, explanatory, and constructive.
• Referees acknowledge that the final decision regarding the publication of the article lies with the editor(s).

LivenARCH+ Journal Author(s) Ethical Responsibilities
• The opinions expressed in articles published in LivenARCH+ Journal are not the views of the journal. The entire responsibility for the articles belongs to the respective authors.
• Authors of articles published in LivenARCH+ Journal are responsible for protecting the individual data of referees and readers.
• All manuscripts submitted to LivenARCH+ Journal must not have been published elsewhere or submitted to any other journal for publication. The authors of the respective articles are responsible for any disputes arising in this regard.
• All manuscripts submitted to LivenARCH+ Journal must be prepared in accordance with the “LivenARCH+ Journal WRITING RULES”. Articles that do not comply with the “LivenARCH+ Journal WRITING RULES” are not considered for the evaluation process.
• All manuscripts submitted to LivenARCH+ Journal must be original, and if they benefit from other works, proper citation or quotation is required.
• All changes requested by the editorial team or referees must be made by the authors within twenty (20) days. The decision about the process of the manuscript is made by the editor(s).
• The bibliography should be stated in a complete format and the institutional/organizational e-mail address(es) of the author(s) should be given.
• Data containing copyrights are used with the necessary permission, and permission information is provided.
• In articles based on postgraduate thesis, information about the institution where the thesis was conducted and the thesis advisor is included. In postgraduate thesis, the corresponding author must be the student of the thesis.
• Multiple publications made within the scope of a project are specified, and the first publication information is provided.
• Research requiring ethical committee approval obtains approval, and approval information is included.
• A “corresponding author” is selected from the authors of the article. During the evaluation process, all communication with editor(s) and the journal is the responsibility of the corresponding author. The corresponding author is obligated to provide timely, complete, and accurate information in response to all questions and requests from editor(s) and referees.
• The corresponding author must sign the “LivenARCH+ Journal COPYRIGHT NOTICE FORM” to specify the authorship order.

LivenARCH+ JOURNAL PUBLICATION POLICY
LivenARCH+ Journal is an academic,  independent, international, double-blind peer-reviewed, open access and online electronic journal published twice a year, with an additional Special Issue, by the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Karadeniz Technical University.
LivenARCH+ Journal utilizes the TUBITAK ULAKBIM DergiPark interface.
LivenARCH+ Journal grants the copyright of the published articles to the author(s) and licenses the first publishing rights of the articles to LivenARCH+ Journal.
